Privacy and confidentiality

bioneural.net collects some information about site visitors for the purpose of improving the site, and for entering into visitor-initiated correspondence. Cookies are used to identify returning commenters, to set some site preferences, and session tracking is undertaken. Additional information about visitors (see below) is temorarily recorded and some data may also be collected by the hosting company (Media Temple).

Any correspondence you enter into via bioneural.net is conducted via Internet e-mail. Your e-mail address will never be published or released to third parties. Viruses

A computer virus is a small segment of software code created by a malicious prankster that 'infects' a computer, causing it to behave strangely or to lose data. Virus-detection software can scan for unusual activity that might be caused by a virus. Viruses can be transmitted by e-mail or may be contained within a file attachment (which must then be run on the recipient's computer to cause damage).

Although bioneural.net employs virus-detection software, no representation is made that any e-mail from bioneural.net is free of viruses. Virus scanning is recommended and is the responsibility of the e-mail recipient.

Misuse

Unauthorized access to the files comprising bioneural.net may constitute a breach of the United Kingdom Computer Misuse Act (1990). The Act applies to any incident where one or more components (e.g. the user, telecommunications or computer) is located in the United Kingdom. Certain activities on the server we use are logged and monitored, and any unauthorized access may be prosecuted.

Spam/ unsolicited e-mail

Do not make use of any e-mail address or comment form to send unsolicited advertising (spam). The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 came into force on 11.12.03. Spammers must not conceal their identities and must provide a valid "opt out" address; nor can they send spam without the prior consent of the recipient.

bioneural.net employs spam filters for both e-mail and comments. If a legitimate e-mail message or comment has not had a reply or not appeared on the site, please try an alternative method of contact.
