Alex King has announced a re-design of the Share Icon Project website, adding a showcase along similar lines to that added to the Geotag Icon Project some days earlier. The Share Icon was inspired by the Feed Icon and OPML Icon. The new Geotag Icon, likewise related conceptually and visually, is not listed as a peer but is nevertheless enjoying a strong show of early developer and user support reflecting its obvious utility.

Update 26.03.08: The Open Share Icon Project offers a free, open, community-driven alternative to the trademarked and brand-linked ShareThis.com icon.
So Bruce, are you behind this GeoTagIcon thing? And what of the Open Share Icon? Is that a plugin now, competing with ShareThis? It's all happening too fast for me to keep up!
I made the original proposal for a "standard" icon Rob, but am one of several who led on the Geotag Icon Project. I coordinate the Project and cover the hosting costs.
The Open Share Icon Project being led by Jay is not directly related; I've given it my personal support, however, because like others I believe it has genuine merits compared to the ShareThis.com (tm) icon.
