Place a widget in the Finder: Move a widget to Tiger's Finder layer, so it appears on the desktop. In Terminal type defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES. Log out and then log back in, drag the widget while holding down F12 and release the mouse to place in the Finder layer.

To remove the widget from the Finder layer, press F12 to open the Dashboard then click the [+] icon followed by Manage Widgets. Uncheck the widget and mouse-click to hide Dashboard. To restore the widget to the Dashboard layer, check it again in Manage Widgets and then drag it out of the Widget bar.
