bioneural.blog has reached 100. One hundred entries, that is, since this blogging experiment kicked off on October 3 2003.
Since conception some 15 months ago the bioneural.blog homepage has had over 3000 unique visitors who between them viewed an average of 10 pages per day (other pages were not counted). Forty six of you decided to leave a comment, and a few of you got in touch by e-mail. These statics may not be impressive next to any big-time commercial site or any popular blog—but hey, this is an amateur effort by a single enthusiast trying to "give something back" to the web. So what have I learned about you (recent visitors), and how should that knowledge affect decisions about the future of bioneural.blog?
Most of you visit from the US East Coast, the UK or Western Europe:

Two thirds of you use the Mac OS X operating system:

Three quarters of you use either Safari or Firefox as your browser of choice:

You are virtually all using recent versions of JavaScript:

You are all (100%) using stylesheets, and 86% of you know a PNG graphic when you see one.
So: decision time...
- bioneural.blog will continue: I enjoy it, and it serves as a place to put things I might need help recalling at a later date.
- Mac users seem to find more of interest here than non-Mac users. That's fine, I like Macs, and will retain a Mac bias.
- Any redesign needs to look good in Safari (Mac only), Firefox (cross-platform), and Internet Explorer 6 (Windoze only).
- Making good use of JavaScript is a safe option.
- It's time to learn some "real" CSS.
- I can't rely on PNG for graphics yet. It's not always appropriate in any case (e.g. JPG still seems superior for photos).
