Use an original iPod as a medium for large PC-Mac file transfers...
MacOpener from DataViz (download a 15-day trial) includes Firewire support, so if you have a PC with a Firewire card installed and the correct Firewire cable to connect with your original iPod, you can mount the iPod under Windows as a removable drive. Now you can drag-and-drop gigabyte-sized files between your PC/ Mac via your iPod. For example, the Mac SuperDrive does not recognize DVD+RW disks, but if your PC DVD drive does, you could use this method to transfer large VOB files (e.g. from a DVD+R/RW DVD Recorder) to the Mac for editing etc.

Update 07.08.04: You could also use MacDrive; see here.
