iDVD 3 does not burn to DVD-RW media by default, but can be tricked into doing so...
Use the Disk Utility to erase a DVD-RW placed in your Superdrive.
With the blank DVD-RW inserted, open iDVD and click twice on the Burn icon.
That's it: great for producing a preview DVD to avoid wasting DVD-Rs!
